In a promising sign for the recreational marijuana industry, one of Colorado’s most cannabis-resistant city governments has finally decided to allow adult-use stores.

The Pueblo City Council voted this week to award licenses for eight recreational marijuana stores and also set fees and adopted zoning rules on the industry, according to the Pueblo Chieftain.

The city will begin accepting applications in January and plans to award the first licenses in March, the Chieftain reported. Stores will not be allowed within 300 feet of residences, 500 feet of substance abuse centers and 1,000 feet of schools.
